We will identify the category and classification of water damage to ensure our professionals restore your property based on industry guidelines. The level of contamination of the water will affect the specific restoration processes we use.
- Category 1: This category of water loss is when the water originates from a sanitary water source and does not pose a substantial risk if ingested or inhaled. Category 1 can quickly degrade to category 2 if not addressed ASAP. Water from a faucet, drinking fountain, toilet tank, broken water supply lines, sink or tub overflow are examples of category 1 water loss.
- Category 2: This category is described as having a level of contaminates that may cause illness of discomfort if ingested. Sources include dishwasher or washing machine overflows, flush from sink drains, and toilet overflow with some urine but not feces.
- Category 3: This is the worst classification and is grossly unsanitary, the water can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or harmful agents. It could cause server illness or death if ingested. Sources include sewer backup, flooding from rivers or streams, toilet overflow with feces, etc.
